American Red Cross CPR / AED / First Aid — Built for Child Care Staff, Teachers & Workplaces
New Jersey child care regulations require at least two staff members with current first aid and CPR training present whenever children are in care — and the training must include a hands-on component, which online-only courses cannot satisfy. Our Red Cross course at 2204 Morris Avenue in Union covers adult, child and infant CPR with AED and first aid, and you leave with a two-year certification.
A single class that satisfies child care licensing, workplace safety requirements, and coaching or personal training credentials.
No medical background required. This is the course for people whose work puts them around children, crowds, or physical activity — and for anyone who simply wants to be useful in an emergency.
This is the requirement most often misread, so it is worth stating plainly.
New Jersey’s child care center regulations require at least two staff members with current certified knowledge of first aid principles and CPR to be in the center at all times when enrolled children are present.
The regulations state that first aid and CPR training must include a hands-on component in addition to any online coursework. A fully online certificate does not satisfy the rule on its own.
Providers registering as family child care or approved home providers need current CPR and first aid certification covering infant, child and adult components, completed in a classroom setting.
Our Red Cross CPR / AED / First Aid class includes adult, child and infant CPR with a hands-on skills assessment — the combination that child care licensing looks for.

It is built for it. New Jersey requires first aid and CPR training with a hands-on component, and requires infant, child and adult coverage for family child care providers. Our Red Cross course includes all three age groups plus AED and first aid, assessed hands-on in the classroom.
Not for child care licensing. The regulations are explicit that training must include a hands-on component in addition to any online coursework, and family child care guidance states that online-only certification cannot be accepted.
Around four hours in a single session. You arrive without certification and leave with a two-year Red Cross card.
This course is for the general public — teachers, child care staff, coaches, workplaces. BLS is the healthcare provider course for nurses, EMTs and clinical staff, and costs $100. If your employer is a hospital, you almost certainly need BLS instead.
None. Most students have never taken a medical course. We teach it in plain language and you practise every skill on a manikin before being assessed.
Yes. With six or more participants we bring the manikins, AED trainers and materials to your center, school or workplace anywhere in Union or Essex County. See our group training page.
